On February 1st and 2nd, 2023, the Nee Kee Wa Nan Initiative held a Meet-and-Greet in Thunder Bay for Survivors and their families living in the area. During these two evenings, those in attendance met members of the Initiative team, learned about the Initiative and the work being undertaken, and how they could get involved. Deputy Chief of Fort Albany First Nation, Terry Metatawabin, welcomed participants with a presentation showcasing the new Initiative website. Afterwards, Survivors and their families had the opportunity to share stories, ask questions, and review historical records collected by the Initiative. Twenty-six guests were in attendance, including representatives from Nishnawbe Aski Nation and Chief Ramona Sutherland and Councillor Wayne Neegan from Constance Lake First Nation.
